Surya added, the gas flow was found after re-testing the exploratory well layer which has the main objective in the carbonate rock of the Manusela formation. Re-testing of the exploration well lining test is needed to determine the character of the reservoir for future development of the Lofin structure.
Then, the SKK Migas and Citic Seram Energy teams are currently still working and are at the location to monitor and test the strength of the hydrocarbon bursts.
“Flaring during well testing has been carried out and the gas burst is quite good,” he said.
Surya said that the gas findings pose significant challenges in the operational testing of exploratory wells. This is because the discovery of the gas is in a remote area, so it takes quite a long time.
“Especially to mobilize drilling equipment and materials, wells with relatively deep depths and high reservoir pressure,” he said.
Plt Head of Program and Communication Division of SKK Migas, Mohammad Kemal said, this finding is a breath of fresh air for massive, aggressive, and efficient exploration that continues to be carried out by SKK Migas and KKKS.
According to him, the oil reserves on Seram Island, Maluku are still quite large. At least, potential oil reserves can reach 5 billion barrels.
“We have potential oil reserves, namely Seram Island and Warim Papua, and thank God there are already investors who are interested in seeing the data,” said Kemal.
