MALUKUnews.co, Ambon: In the context of its first anniversary, PT. Maluku Energi Abadi (Perseroda) held an Online Discussion Series with the theme: “Participating Interest 10% 3 Oil and Gas Blocks in Maluku”.

The online discussion was in collaboration with the public media, Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) Ambon, which was also broadcast live streaming on the MEA YouTube channel, yesterday.

In the discussion, they appeared as resource persons for the Head of the Maluku Province ESDM Office, Head of the Operations Department of SKK Migas Papua Maluku Representative, Head of the Regional Revenue Agency of Central Maluku Regency, and Director of PT. Maluku Energi Abadi (Perseroda).

In this discussion opportunity that attracted attention was the question posed by Ms. Cornelia, an alumni of a scholarship program held by the Maluku Provincial Government at Padjajaran University, Bandung. According to him, from what he knows, the Masela Field is not located in the Tanimbar Islands Regency (KKT).

Is it legally valid that KKT has the right, to this question, Anggaraiputra Srijono as Head of the Operations Department of SKK Migas Representative for Papua Maluku answered, “It is true that the location of the hydrocarbon and gas wells in Masela is more than 12 miles. So when it comes to rights, there really is no such thing. Not even in the Province.”

He continued, but indeed the central government gave. This is what is being discussed, that the 10% distribution will be like. And based on a letter from the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources to the Cabinet Secretary, the proposal already exists. The decision rests with the President. The key word is that according to the applicable laws and regulations, KKT has no right. Even Prov. Moluccas did not actually have rights. But this is given by the central government.”

Further, the Director of PT. Maluku Energi Abadi (Perseroda) explained that the process of transferring the 10% PI of Masela has reached stage 6, but in May 2021 Inpex “temporarily suspended” the bidding process for the 10% PI. He then questioned why until now the MEA Clarification Letter regarding the temporary suspension had not been responded to by both SKK Migas and the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources. The first director of MEA hopes that SKK Migas Pamalu will help communicate with Inpex, so that the process of transferring the PI Masela will continue in accordance with the provisions of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 37/2016.

The RRI Ambon claimed to have also invited the Regent of the Tanimbar Islands to be able to discuss together, but until the event took place there was no certainty to attend. (red)
